Cocker Spaniel on a diet?
I have an adult Cocker Spaniel who weighs 36.5 lbs and needs to be about 28 lbs. I am currently running/jogging him 3.2 miles and then taking him for a 45 minute to 1 hr walk every day. I am feeding him Taste of the Wild food which he really enjoys. My questions is, am I feeding him too much or too little? He gets 1.5 cups of food everyday which is the feeding recommendation on the bag for 20-30 lbs. I also wanted to know if you think this is enough activity for him?

I would cut back on his food. It is more rich & add something like green beans to help fill him up instead. They always tend to put the maximum amount on the feeding guidelines.

He gets no treats and he gets fed twice a day.
You are currently feeding your dog enough calories to help him maintain his current weight. That is what the recommended serving means. I suggest trying a diet that promotes weight loss, such as the Science Diet Weight Management food. My own rat terrier lost a lot of weight pretty quickly on this food, and he loves it. Now we are on the maintenance serving and he's not gaining any weight back. If you want, definitely try giving your dog more exercise, but don't overdo it for him. If you change his diet and his exercise and he's still not losing weight, take him to your vet for a check up just to make sure there are no other underlying issues, such as a thyroid problem. Good luck
